# 約翰書信 (123John) 風格特色

約翰書信風格上最大的特色就是:重複。同樣的話,往往一說再說。乍看之下似乎在繞口令,但仔細默寫卻更能體會老約翰的苦口婆心。

### (2) ἐν τούτῳ 的 τούτῳ 指向下文

其次,就句法來看,ἐν τούτῳ 這個介系詞片語總共出現 14 次 (1 Jo. 2:3, 4, 5 [2x]; 3:10, 16, 19, 24; 4:2, 9, 10, 13, 17; 5:2)。解經時最大的挑戰,就是要釐清 τούτῳ 指的是什麼?究竟是指向上文的子句、字詞、概念 (句法上所謂的「前指 anaphoric」),又或者是指向下文的子句、字詞、概念 (句法上所謂的「後指 cataphoric」)。

Bateman 歸納出來一個原則:如果 ἐν τούτῳ 後面有 ὅτι、ἵνα、ἐάν、ὅταν 帶出來的從屬子句,那麼 τούτῳ 就是 cataphoric (後指);反過來說,如果 ἐν τούτῳ 後面沒有這些從屬子句,那麼 τούτῳ 就是 anaphoric (前指)。[^1]

1Jo 2:3 第一個字 Καὶ 大寫開頭表明新段落的開始2:3 最後一個字 τηρῶμεν 後面加上句點,表明完整意義的單元。再配合 Batemann 的原則,就更加可以確定 2:3 的 τούτῳ,指向下文 (cataphoric) 的 ἐὰν τὰς ἐντολὰς αὐτοῦ τηρῶμεν 條件子句 (如果我們遵守他的誡命)。

### (3) ἵνα 從屬子句當作同位 (apposition) 使用
ἵνα 從屬子句一般來說多用來表達目的、結果,但約翰書信卻常用來當作實名詞子句,同位(apposition) 補充說明上文的代名詞。這樣的例子,在約翰書信裡 有六次1Jo 3:8, 11, 23 [2x]; 4:21; 5:3)Wallace 甚至認為這是約翰的慣用語 (GGBB 475 = 華 499)。

### (4) ἐιμί 前後只有一個不帶冠詞的名詞時,主語內含在 ἐιμί 裡面
等同動詞 ἐιμί 通常前後有兩個實名詞 (文法上稱之為:兩價 di-valent),而且兩個都是主格,一個用作 S (主語)、一個用作 C (補語)。Wallace 提供了判斷哪個是 S、哪個是 C 的原則 (GGBB 42-44 = 華 42-43),以及優先順序 (GGBB 44-45 = 華 43-44)。
但當 ἐιμί 前後只有一個不帶冠詞的名詞 (一價 mono-valent ) 時,主語 (S) 就會內含在動詞裡面。
