Definition

To "send" is to cause someone or something to go somewhere. To "send out" someone is to tell that person to go on an errand or a mission.

There is usually a specific purpose for sending someone out. Often a person who is "sent out" has been appointed to do a specific task.
Phrases like "send rain" or "send disaster" mean "to cause…to come." This type of expression is usually used in reference to God causing these things to happen.
The term "send" is also used in expressions such as "send word" or "send a message" which means to give someone a message to tell someone else.
To send someone an animal or other gift means to "give" that thing to someone else, usually moving it some distance in order for the person to receive it.
