Facts

Asher is the eighth son of Jacob. Together, his descendants form one of the twelve tribes of Israel. This tribe is also called Asher.

Asher's mother was Zilpah, the servant of Leah.
His name means "happy" or, "blessed."
Asher was also the name of the territory assigned to the tribe of Asher when the Israelites entered the promised land.
