## Facts

Asher is the eighth son of Jacob. Together, his descendants form one of the twelve tribes of Israel. This tribe is also called Asher. 

* Asher's mother was Zilpah, the servant of Leah.
* His name means "happy" or, "blessed."
* Asher was also the name of the territory assigned to the tribe of Asher when the Israelites entered the promised land.
