Matthew 18:3 change wording. Eliminate "the way you think" after "change" because this is not in the original and limits the concept from "turn" to a mental process. What Jesus means is a lot more than that and is stated implicitly and should not be limited.
Matthew 15:17 cut extra sentence, "What people eat does not cause God to reject them." This certainly is true, but this is not in the text at all and is explained in the next chunk.
Matthew 13:57-58 change wording to get closer to the original and the intended meaning. To say that they rejected him because he was the Christ is a jump in assumption. Their offense was that a local boy should come back with such authority over them.
Matthew 13:52 change wording since the way it was was quite strained: "Because you understand all these parables, you will understand the following parable: You, along with all others, will teach people what you heard me say about how God wishes to rule over people. You will add that to what you formerly learned." I cut a lot of this extra wording and interpretation.
Matthew 13:42 change wording from "the people who cause others to stop believing in me" to "the things that cause..." to reflect the broader view of the final judgment in the next clause and the original. The last part was changed also to reflect the Greek "lawless" or "law-breakers."
Matthew 13:16 change wording from "God is pleased with you" to conform to the sense of Jesus' explanation and quote. Also, changed "seen" to "realized" to continue the parallelism of sense with the next clause.
Matthew 12:49-50 change wording from "If you want to" to "able to" since this is the sense of Jesus' exhortation here as he explains in the next verses.
Matthew 12:49-50 change wording from, "I love as much as I love my mother and brothers." to what you see. The elided application defends Jesus' physical relationship as much as his spiritual one. But this is not what he says. He replaces the physical with the spiritual relationship as the ULB shows along with the original.
Matthew 12:27 change wording from "show you that you are not thinking logically." to what you see since the original does not reproduce the idea of Jesus' counter-argument.
Matthew 12:17 change wording " acting humbly like that" to what you see. To say that Jesus was humble could be surmised from the Messianic Secret, but that is an assumption and is not at all supported by the quote from Isaiah that stresses the Servant's kindness from the point of victory and exaltation.
Matthew 12:6 cut extra clause at end of sentence, ", so what I teach is more important for you to obey than what our ancestors said about the Sabbath day." because this is commentary and a derived idea not in the text.
Matthew 12:4 cut extra words, "asked for some food. The high priest gave him" replaced with "ate."
Also, cut the last sentence which is only explanatory, covered by the notes, and not in the text, " And God did not consider that what they did was wrong!"
Matthew 12:3 cut extra sentence at end of verse, "You have read about that, but you do not think about what it means!" This is explanatory and not in the text.
Matthew 10:26 cut extra phrase "about him" since this is assumed and is extra from the original and narrows the action to theology. This is a general statement.
Matthew 10:25 cut extra sentence "The most you can expect is that people will treat you like they treat me." This is not needed for the sense and confuses the wording of the original.
Matthew 10:17 cut extra clause "they will punish you because you are my disciples." This is not in the original and is not needed since the next verse says the same thing.
Matthew 10:16 change wording to reflect the original more closely. From: " And you must no more harm them than doves would. You should be on your guard such people, as snakes are on their guard against people." to what you see.
Matthew 9:28 cut the possessive "his" for house, since Jesus had no place to lay his head (no home). Comments include Matthew's house (9:10) or Peter's house in Capernaum. The Greek has just the article.
Matthew 9:21 changed versification to reflect the original and the portion eliminated from the previous versification 20-21. There was too much assumption in the wording about the widow's thought process. Since the notes also cover this, there is no need for this in this rendition and could be confusing for the MTTs.
Matthew 9:21 eliminate extra wording "She was saying to herself, 'I want Jesus to heal me without anyone finding out that I have this problem of bleeding. So if I touch him or even if I just touch his garment, I will be healed without anyone finding out about it.' So" since this is explained in the notes and is not in the text.
Matthew 9:10 eliminate extra clause "who did not care about the law of Moses" is not certain. We surmise that they considered themselves beyond any hope of salvation since their track record spoke against them in the theology of the Pharisees, so they settled into a despair. Jesus' message of salvation was the magnet that drew them. Regardless of their spiritual state, to say they did not care is saying too much.
Matthew 9:6 eliminate added phrase "of people while I am on the earth." This is not in the original, is not needed for the sense and is likely not even theologically correct since we assume Jesus continues to forgive sins (1 John 2). Besides, the noun "sins" is anarthrous so is a generalized term.
Matthew 8:13 simplify wording "would happen, that I would heal your servant from a distance," taken out since this is assumed from prior narrative and is not a part of the text.
Matthew 8:9 cut added words, " You also speak with a similar kind of authority." This sentence is put into the mouth of the centurion and is interpretive.
Matthew 8:4 simplify and condense the first two sentences of the quoted portion: "Go and show yourself to a nearby priest so that he can examine you and verify that you are no longer sick. Then, after he tells the local people, they will know that you no longer have leprosy, and you will be able to associate with them again." since this is background information as is in the notes. The following also was cut, "that people who have been healed from this sickness should offer as a sacrifice to God." and changed the wording to reflect the same idea.
Matthew 7:5 eliminate extra sentence that is purely applicatory: "When you have stopped sinning, then you will have the spiritual insight to help others get rid of their sins." and not the ULB or any other version including the Greek, of course. This concept is treated in the notes.
Matthew 6:26 cut last sentence, " And you are certainly worth a lot more than birds! So you can be assured that God will supply what you need!" since it is not at all in the ULB or the Greek or other English renderings. This is applicatory and beyond the text.
Matthew 4:18 change wording from "because they earned money by catching and selling fish." to what you see. The rewording says the same thing but more concisely.
9:9, such authority τοῖς ἀνθρώποις "to men" - here people. Keeping the plural and not particularizing it to Jesus alone. The reason the crowd was amazed was not because Jesus, in particular, did a miracle. It should be kept ambiguous.
Matthew 9:5 Original wording:
It would not be hard for someone to say to this man, 'I forgive your sins,' because no one could see whether or not it really happened. But no one would say to him, 'Get up and walk!,' because people could easily see whether he could walk again!
Changed because this loses the rhetorical question and reverses the idea that it IS HARDER to forgive sins than to heal the paralytic.
Matthew 8:3 eliminate "disobeyed the law that kept the sick man from healthy people; he " after the beginning of the sentence "Then Jesus..." since this is background information and belongs in a note.
Matthew 1:17 eliminate 1st person pronoun - interpretive, confusing to MTTs, not in ULB, Greek or English versions.
Original: I have listed Jesus' ancestors as follows:
