To bury is to place something in a hole in the ground and cover it with dirt.

* Usually the term "bury" refers to putting a dead body in a hole or chamber and then covering it up.

* In many parts of the world, a dead person is buried by placing the body in a hole in the ground and covering it over with dirt. Before being buried, the dead body is usually placed in a box-like structure, such as a coffin.
