A particle is a word that is not a verb, noun, pronoun, adverb, conjunction, preposition, or article. However, a particle often does something like an adverb or a conjunction.
Particles do not change their form.
How can a particle be used in a sentence?
- Some particles can negate something. They are often translated as not or no.
- Some particles can help connect words or groups of words.
- Some particles can show that the speaker or writer wanted someone to pay attention to what has just been said or written.
- Some particles can intensify what was just said or written.
