Definition

Silver is a shiny, whitish-gray precious metal used to make coins, jewelry, vessels, and ornaments.

The temple in Jerusalem had vessels made of silver. These were stolen by the Babyloninas when they invaded Jerusalem and captured many of the Israelites in 586 BC.
The vessels would include silver cups and bowls, among other things used for cooking, eating, or serving.
In Bible times, silver coins or weights called shekels were used.
Judas was paid 30 pieces of silver for betraying Jesus.
