Jacob was the younger twin son of Isaac and Rebekah.
- Jacob's name means "deceiver" or "trickster."
- Jacob was clever and deceptive. He found ways to take both the firstborn inheritance rights and the blessing from his older brother, Esau.
- Esau was angry and planned to kill him, so Jacob left his homeland. But he later returned and lived peacefully with his brother.
- God changed Jacob's name to Israel, which means, "he struggles with God."
- God kept his covenant to Abraham and his descendants through Abraham's son, Isaac, and Isaac's son, Jacob.
