Facts

Jacob was the younger twin son of Isaac and Rebekah.

Jacob's name means "deceiver" or "trickster."
Jacob was clever and deceptive. He found ways to take both the firstborn inheritance rights and the blessing from his older brother, Esau.
Esau was angry and planned to kill him, so Jacob left his homeland. But he later returned and lived peacefully with his brother.
God changed Jacob's name to Israel, which means, "he struggles with God."
God kept his covenant to Abraham and his descendants through Abraham's son, Isaac, and Isaac's son, Jacob.
Jacob had twelve sons. Their descendants became the twelve tribes of Israel.
