"came to attack Jerusalem". The prophesied destruction of Jerusalem is over and the actual conquering of the Promised Land by Babylon begins in this chapter.
In the ninth year and tenth month of Zedekiah king of Judah
"In the tenth month of the ninth year that Zedekiah was king of Judah". This is after Zedekiah had been king of Judah for eight years, in the tenth month of the Hebrew calendar and during the last part of December and the first part of January on Western calendars.
