General Information:
This chapter continues the teaching about how to maintain justice in Israel and also gives limitations regarding the lending of money. Lending money to fellow Israelites was a way to help them out. It was not intended to be a way to make money off their brothers.
When a man takes a wife and marries her
"When a man marries a woman"
if she finds no favor in his eyes
"if he decides that he does not like her"
because he has found something shameful about her
The word translated "shameful" here implies sexual immorality.
he must write her a certificate of divorce
"he must give his wife an official paper saying that they are not married anymore"
