General Information
This chapter gives a series of disconnected pieces of advice. Translators should not try to smooth the transitions between them. The advice given do not apply in every situation, so they should be seen as "good ideas". The ULB sets poetry (12:1-7 and 12:13-14) farther to the right to show that it is poetry.
call to mind
"remember"
before the days of difficulty come
"before you experience difficult times"
before the years arrive when you say, "I have no pleasure in them"
"before you become old when you say, 'I no longer enjoy being alive'"
