In what I write to you, I assure you before God that I am not lying

Paul says "before God" to help the Galatians know that he is telling the truth. Paul knows that God hears what he says and will judge him if he does not tell the truth. Alternate translation: "I tell you in God's presence that I am not lying in what I write to you"
