# Body of Christ
The “body of Christ” is a metaphor. It is used to talk about the church (see: Colossians 1:24). In the same way a persons body has many parts, the "body of Christ" has many parts. Each Christian is a part of the body of Christ. Each Christian serves the church and Jesus in a certain way. Each person serves in their own way to do the things that honor God (see: 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; 14:12). Jesus is the “head” of the church (see: Ephesians 1:22; 5:23; Colossians 1:18). In the same way a person's head moves his body, Jesus is the one who guides and tells the church what to do.
