Command (Commandment)
The word "command" is used to talk about someone telling someone else to do something. A "command" or "commandment" is what the person was told to do.

A command can tell someone to do something. For example, “Honor your father and your mother.” Or a command can tell someone not to do something. For example, “You must not steal from anyone.” God commanded many things in the law of Moses. This included the Ten Commandments (see: Exodus 20:1-17; Deuteronomy 5:1-21).
The words “decree” and “statute” have a similar meaning to “command.”
