Reconcile (Reconciliation)

Two people are reconciled with one another when they stop fighting and become friends. Two people or two groups of people can be reconciled to one another (see: Matthew 5:23-24; 1 Corinthians 7:11). "Reconciliation" is that act of causing peace between two enemies.

More Information About This Topic

In the Bible, the words “reconcile” and “reconciliation” are usually used to talk about God causing peace between himself and people. When Jesus died, he made it possible for people to be at peace with God. That is, Jesus made it possible for people to be reconciled with God.

Before people become Christians, each one of them is an enemy of God. This is because everyone sins. Before people become Christians they are enslaved by their desire to sin. Even if they do not know it, non-Christians serve Satan and fight against God.
