Humble (Humility)

A humble person does not think he is better than other people. Someone who is humble has humility.

People need to be humble to God. That is, people need to know that they are weak and imperfect, but that God is great, wise, and perfect. Humble people know everything they have and everything they are is because God gave it to them. They serve other people. They do not think that people should serve them. God blesses those who are humble (see: Luke 14:11; 1 Peter 5:5).

Jesus humbled himself by becoming a human and dying on a cross, even though he was the Son of God. Christians should be humble the way Jesus was humble (see: Philippians 2:5-8).

When someone is “humiliated,” that person is ashamed because of something they did or because of something someone did to them (see: Jeremiah 22:22). When someone “humiliates” someone else, they cause that person to be ashamed (see: 1 Corinthians 11:22).
