Locust

A locust is a type of large, flying grasshopper. A locust sometimes flies with many other locusts. They can destroy much land. They eat all the food and plants that grow on the land (see: Deuteronomy 28:38, 42). God sent locusts as one of the ten plagues against the Egyptians (see: Exodus 10:1-20).

The word “locust” can also be used to talk about an army or something else destructive that God sends to punish people for their sins (see: Joel 2:1-11, 25; Revelation 9:3, 7).
