God has given them a spirit of dullness, eyes so that they should not see, and ears so that they should not hear
ആത്മീയമായി മന്ദതയിലിരിക്കുന്ന ജനത്തിന്‍റെ അവസ്ഥയെ സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ആലങ്കാരിക പദമാണിത്. ആത്മീയ സത്യങ്ങളെ കേള്‍ക്കുവാനോ സ്വീകരിക്കുവാനോ അവര്‍ കഴിവില്ലാത്തവര്‍ ആയിരിക്കുന്നു. (കാണുക: rc://*/ta/man/translate/figs-metaphor)

“സ്വഭാവങ്ങളുള്ള” എന്നാല്‍ “ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്‍റെ ആത്മാവ്” തുടങ്ങിയവ.
eyes so that they should not see
ഒരുവന്‍ കണ്ണ് കൊണ്ട് കാണട്ടെ എന്ന ആശയം ജ്ഞാനം നേടുക എന്നതിന് തുല്യമായി പരിഗണിക്കാം.
ears so that they should not hear
ചെവികൊണ്ടു കേള്‍ക്കുക എന്ന ആശയം അനുസരണത്തിനു തുല്യമായി പരിഗണിക്കാം.
