False Teacher

A “false teacher” is someone who teaches something about God that is not true. The Bible warns Christians about false teachers (see: Acts 20:28-31; 2 Timothy 3:8; 2 Peter 2:1). False teachers can cause people to sin. Also, they can cause Christians to not be at peace with one another (see: 1 Timothy 6:3-5).

More Information About This Topic

Paul told all church leaders to always believe and teach the true teachings about God (see: 2 Timothy 1:13; 4:3; Titus 1:9, 13; 2:1-2). Many of the letters of the New Testament were written to tell Christians not to believe what the false teachers were saying. Also, these letters were written to teach Christians what things are true about God (see: Galatians 1:6-9; Colossians 2:8, 16-23; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4; 1 Timothy 1:3-7; 4:1-2).
