## Definition
In a marriage ceremony, the bridegroom is the man who will marry the bride. In the Jewish culture during Bible times, the ceremony centered around the bridegroom coming to get his bride.
* In the Bible, Jesus is figuratively called the Bridegroom who will someday come for his Bride, the Church.
* Jesus compared his disciples to the friends of the bridegroom who celebrate while the bridegroom is with them, but when he is gone they fast.
