God

The word “God” refers to the being who created, rules, and judges the universe. Gods name in Hebrew is Yahweh (see: Exodus 3:13-14; Isaiah 42:8). This name sounds like the Hebrew word that is translated as “I am.” He is the one and only God. God exists without the help of anything else.

See: Yahweh (I am)

More Information about This Topic

God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are different persons of the same being (see: Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 3:21-22; 2 Corinthians 13:14). Jesus is God who became a man (see: John 1:1, 14). The Holy Spirit is also called God (see: Acts 5:3, 4). God is holy (see: Isaiah 6:3), eternal (see: Psalm 90:1-2), unchangeable (see: Malachi 3:6; James 1:17), love (see: 1 John 4:8), and true (see: John 17:17; Titus 1:2; Hebrews 6:18). God is also compassionate, merciful, forgiving, and just (see: Exodus 34:6-7).

God created the universe by Jesus the Son (see: Genesis 1; Jeremiah 10:12; John 1; Colossians 1:16). God also rules over everything because he owns everything (see: Daniel 4:17, 32). All people should worship God the creator (see: Romans 1:20-25). Jesus also will judge the world (see: Acts 17:31; Romans 2:16; Revelation 20:11-15).

Many false gods exist. Some false gods are idols made by man (see: Jeremiah 10:2-10). Satan is called the god of this world (see: 2 Corinthians 4:4). All false gods will perish (see: Jeremiah 10:11).
