Definition
The term "strong drink" refers to drinks that have been fermented, also called "alcoholic" drinks.
- Alcoholic beverages are made from either grain or fruit and have undergone a process of fermentation. Kinds of strong drinks include wine (from grapes), beer, ale, cider, and palm wine.
- Priests and anyone who took a special vow such as the "Nazirite vow" were forbidden to drink fermented drinks.
