myrrh

Definition:

Myrrh is an oil or spice that is made from the resin of the myrrh tree which grows in Africa and Asia.

Myrrh was used to make incense, perfume, ointments, medicine, and to prepare dead bodies for burial.
Myrrh was one of the gifts that the learned men gave to Jesus when he was born.
Jesus was offered wine mixed with myrrh in order to ease the pain when he was crucified.

Translation Suggestions:

If your readers would not be familiar myrrh you could use the name of something similar in your area or you could use a more general term.
If your readers would not be familiar with myrrh you could describe what myrrh is in context (since it was used in different things) with a descriptive phrase and/or you could include a footnote explaining what myrrh is if you are using footnotes in your translation.
