# Wine is a mocker and strong drink is a brawler
These two phrases mean basically the same thing and are combined to emphasize the danger of too much alcohol. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-parallelism]])
# Wine is a mocker
Here "wine" refers to the person who is drunk with wine. AT: "A person who is drunk with wine mocks" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/figs-metonymy]])
# strong drink is a brawler
