  "2": "‘If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve for six years, and in the seventh year he will go free without paying anything. ",
  "3": "If he came by himself, he must go free by himself; if he is the husband of a wife, then his wife must go free with him. ",
  "4": "If his master gave him a wife and she bore him sons or daughters, the wife and her children are her master’s, and he must go out by himself.\n\n\\ts\\* ",
  "5": "But if the servant plainly says, “I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,” ",
  "6": "then his master must bring him to God. He must bring him to a door or to a doorpost, and his master must bore his ear through with an awl. Then he will serve him forever.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "7": "And if a man sells his daughter as a female servant, she must not go out as the male servants go out. ",
  "8": "If she is bad in the eyes of her master, who has appointed her for himself, then he must cause her to be ransomed. He has no authority to sell her to a foreign people, since he has acted treacherously with her.\n\n\\ts\\* ",
  "9": "And if he appoints her for his son, he must act toward her according to the custom of daughters. ",
  "10": "If he takes another to himself, he must not diminish her food, her clothing, or her marital rights. ",
  "11": "But if he does not provide these three things to her, then she can go free without silver.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "12": "Whoever strikes a man and he dies, he must surely be put to death;",
  "13": "but if he did not lie in wait, but God let it happen by his hand, then I will appoint a place for you where he can flee. ",
  "14": "If a man willfully acts against his neighbor to kill him with cunning, then you must take him from my altar for execution.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "15": "Whoever hits his father or his mother must surely be put to death.\n\\p ",
  "16": "Whoever steals a man—whether he sells him, or he is found in his hand—he must surely be put to death.\n\\p ",
  "17": "Whoever acts contemptuously towards his father or his mother must surely be put to death.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "18": "If men fight and a man hits his neighbor with a stone or with his fist, and he does not die but falls to bed; ",
  "19": "if he rises and walks about in the outdoors on his staff, then the striker is free. He only must pay for his sitting and for his complete healing.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "20": "And if a man hits his male servant or his female servant with a staff and he dies under his hand, he will certainly be avenged.",
  "21": "However, if he stands a day or two, he will not be avenged, for he is his silver.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "22": "And if men fight together and strike a pregnant woman and her children come out, but there is no serious injury, then he must surely be fined as the husband of the woman puts on him, and he must give according to the judges. ",
  "23": "But if there is serious injury, then you must give a life for a life, ",
  "24": "an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a hand for a hand, a foot for a foot, ",
  "25": "a burn for a burn, a wound for a wound, or a bruise for a bruise.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "26": "And if a man hits the eye of his male servant or the eye of his female servant and destroys it, he must let him go free in compensation for his eye. ",
  "27": "And if he knocks out a tooth of his male servant or a tooth of his female servant, he must let him go free as compensation for the tooth.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "28": "And if an ox gores a man or a woman and he dies, the ox must surely be stoned, and its flesh must not be eaten; but the owner of the ox is innocent. ",
  "29": "But if the ox had a habit of goring in the past, and its owner was warned but did not keep it in, and the ox kills a man or a woman, the ox must be stoned, and its owner also must be put to death. ",
  "30": "If a ransom is imposed on him, he must give the ransom of his life, according to all that is imposed  on him.\n\n\\ts\\* ",
  "31": "If an ox gores a son or gores a daughter, it shall be done to him according to this ordinance.",
  "32": "If the ox gores a male servant or a female servant, the ox’s owner must pay thirty shekels of silver, and the ox must be stoned.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "33": "If a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox or a donkey falls into it, ",
  "34": "the owner of the pit must repay the loss. He must give money to the dead animal’s owner, and the dead animal will become his.\n\n\\ts\\*\n\\p ",
  "35": "If one man’s ox hurts another man’s ox so that it dies, then they must sell the live ox and divide its price, and they must also divide the dead ox. ",
  "36": "But if it was known that the ox had a habit of goring in time past, and its owner has not kept it in, he must surely pay ox for ox, and the dead animal will become his own.\n\n\n\\ts\\*",
