"through" the idea of a channel or way, showing that Christ lives in the hearts of believers by means of God's gift of faith given to them.
that you be rooted and grounded in his love

all those set apart for God
It means all believers. It can be translated as "saints".
that you may know the surpassing greatness of Christ's love
"that you may know Christ's love that is far above anything we can know by experience".
