Paddan Aram

Facts:

Paddan Aram was the name of a region where Abrahams family lived before moving to the land of Canaan. It means “plain of Aram.”

  • When Abraham left Haran in Paddan Aram to travel to the land of Canaan, most of the rest of his family stayed behind in Haran.
  • Many years later, Abrahams servant went to Paddan Aram to find a wife for Isaac among his relatives there and found Rebekah, grand-daughter of Bethuel.
  • Isaac and Rebekahs son Jacob also traveled to Paddan Aram and married two daughters of Rebekahs brother Laban who was living in Haran.
  • Aram, Paddan-Aram, and Aram-Nahariam were all part of the same region that is now where the modern-day country of Syria is located.
