直說語氣 = 作者主觀對於動作的陳述 (assertion)，與事實 (fact)、真相 (truth) 未必相同。
例如：可5:35 用直說語氣說小孩死了，到了可5:39又用直說語氣說小孩沒死——前後兩個直說語氣，邏輯上不能同時為真 (true)。可見直說語氣只是反映了「作者主觀對於動作的陳述 (assertion)」。
例如：徒6:13 用直說語氣說謊；路7:39表達錯誤的認知。
非直說語氣 = 作者主觀對於動作的投射 (projection)
