Some Jews who lived far away from Jerusalem and Judea had heard of John the Baptist and followed his teachings. They had not yet heard about Jesus. One of these Jews was Apollos. He followed John the Baptist, but he did not know that the Messiah had come. John had baptized people to show that they were sorry for their sins, but this baptism was different from Christian baptism. Certaines personnes qui vivaient loin de Jérusalem et de la Judée avaient entendu parler de Jean Baptiste et suivaient ses enseignements. Mais ils n'avaient pas entendu parler de Jésus. L'un d'eux était Apollos. Il suivait Jean Baptiste, mais il ne savait pas que le Messie était venu. Jean avait baptisé des gens pour témoigner qu'ils regrettaient leurs péchés, mais ce baptême était différent du baptême chrétien.
