# Tarsus # ## Facts: ## Tarsus was a prosperous city in the Roman province of Cilicia, in what is now south central Turkey. * Tarsus was located along a major river and near the Mediterranean Sea, so it was part of an important trade route. * At one time it was the capital of Cilicia. * In the New Testament, Tarsus was best known as the hometown of Paul the apostle.
