Moab was the son of Lot's elder daughter. His descendants were called Moabites and the land they settled in also became known as "Moab."

* The country of Moab was located east of Judea, on the opposite side of the Dead Sea. It was southeast of the Judean city of Bethlehem, where Naomi's family was from.
|
||
|
|
* The term "Moabitess" can be translated as, "Moabite woman" or "woman from Moab."
