A breastplate was a piece of armor covering the front of the chest to protect a soldier during battle. It was also the name of part of the special clothing that the Israelite high priest wore.
|
||
|

||
|
* Breastplates used by soldiers could be made of wood, metal, or leather. They were intended to stop arrows, spears, or swords from piercing the chest of the soldier.
|
||
|
* The breastplate worn by the Israelite high priest was made of cloth and had valuable gems attached to it. The priest wore this when he was performing his duties of service to God in the Temple.
