ULB 2Sa 11:4 currently reads:

\v 4 One day a visitor came to the rich man, but the rich man was unwilling to take one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for him. Instead, he took the poor man's ewe lamb and cooked it for his visitor."

ULB 2Sa 12:4 suggested change:

\v 4 Now a traveler came to the rich man, and the rich man was not willing to take one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for him, and so he took the poor man's ewe lamb and prepared it for the one who had come to him."

"One day" vs "Now"
Heb: וַ.
Both "One day" and "Now" are ways of starting the action of a story.
"One day" - NLT, CEV, GNT
"Now" - ESV, BSB, NASB, CSB, HCSB, GWT, NAS 1977
I think "Now" is better (less concrete), but ULB is adequate

"a visitor" vs "a traveler"
Heb: הֵלֶךְ֮
"visitor/guest/someone came to visit" - NLT, GNT, GWT, CEV
"Traveler" seems to be more accurate, but ULB is adequate

"but the rich man" vs "and the rich man"
Bible Hub tags וַיַּחְמֹ֗ל as consecutive imperfect, so maybe "and" is all that is really marked.
but ULB is adequate

"was unwilling" vs "was not willing"
ULB is adequate

"Instead" vs "and so"
Bible Hub tags וַיִּקַּ֗ח as consecutive imperfect, so maybe "and" is all that is really marked.
I think Instead is adequate for the context.

The only reason it might not be good to use "but" and "Instead" is that it portrays Nathan more strongly giving his own opinion about what the rich man should have done, instead of leaving it more to David to come to his own opinion.

Heb simply has וַֽיַּעֲשֶׂ֔הָ "did/made it"
