My soul (ψυχήν is commonly 'life' in the ULB, or the "self")

2Cor 1:23-24 this is the CURRENT ULB:
\v 23 But I call God as witness to my soul that the reason I did not come to Corinth was so that I might spare you.
\v 24 This is not because we want to be lords over your faith. Instead, we are fellow laborers with you for your joy, as you stand in your faith.

The ULB of 2Co 1:23-24 suggestion:
\v 23 But I call God as my witness, that the reason I did not come to Corinth was so that I might spare you.
\v 24 Not that we are masters over your faith, but we worked together with you for your joy, because you stand firm in your faith.

My soul current ULB ψυχήν is commonly 'life' in the ULB, or the "self" here, "my (self)"
lord -- made a noun, when it is a verb; "masters over your faith".
the ill-advised, "Instead ..." in the foreshortening game.

It would be great for the ULB to be more literal, but it's not wrong.

\v 23 But I call God as witness to my soul

  • NASB and New Heart English have this.

\v 24a This is not because we want to be lords over your faith.

  • NLT: But that does not mean we want to dominate you by telling you how to put your faith into practice.

  • GWT: It isn't that we want to have control over your Christian faith

  • Weymouth: Not that we want to lord it over you in respect of your faith--

  • NASB "Not that we lord it over your faith" (Most versions use a verb)

\v 24b Instead, we are fellow laborers with you for your joy,

  • BLB: but are fellow workers with you of joy
  • NASB: but are workers with you for your joy; (Most versions use a noun)
  • GNT: Instead, we are working with you for your own happiness.

\v24c as you stand in your faith. (Lacks the word "firm".)

  • NKJV: for by faith you stand.
  • HCSB: because you stand by faith.

My opinion: The ULB is adequate.

Agreed. However, I would add stand to make it stand firm. I think the NKJV and HCSB have the wrong sense of ἵστημι. The HCSB recognized this and changed it in their revision (CSB).
