Ed D. said that the team was laughing about "lucky charms" in Isa 3:20.

\v 20 the headscarves, the ankle chains, the sashes, and the perfume
boxes, and the lucky charms.

The word translated "lucky charms" is H3908.
The ULB has "magic charms" for H3704 in Ezekiel 13:18 and 20.

Would "magic charms" be suitable for Isa 3:20? Or perhahps "good luck charms"?

I don't know if they were really asking for a change or not.

I remember having a meeting about this. After a long discussion, we decided to put in "lucky charms" for our leprechaun friends. But, if we are no longer worried about their feelings, I am fine with "magic charms" or just "charms."

I was thinking that "charms" should be fine (many versions have it), but for Aby, what came to mind was simply the ornaments on a bracelet or necklace. Would people think that a charm is simply an ornament?

SIL's Translator's Notes on Isaiah says about them:
These were objects worn somewhere on the clothing, and were reminders of help or protection given by magic words asking favor of a god. Some amulets had these words written on them or in them. Since people sometimes whispered these words, the word translated amulets means “whisper” (Another form of the word was used in 3:3, where it was translated “charms.”)

ULB's A Handbook on Isaiah says this:

The Hebrew word rendered amulets may refer to any kind of small article that people believe carries magic power. It is worn for warding off evil.

How about if I put in "magic charms" and change the en_tn to this?

I am fine with charms, but since it is more of earrings/necklaces than bracelets, I think using amulets and having an explanatory note would be the best option.

I was assuming we would not introduce the word "amulet," but I see we already have it in Isaiah 47:9.

The word is not in translationWords or translationNotes.

I'm fine ok with using amulet if we can add translationNotes for these verses.

I made the change in the June2023 branch. Then I merged that branch into the master according to the discussion that Aby, Glenn, and I had this week.

I checked tQ and RG according to the discussion Aby and I had Feb 2.
