Delete Branch "%!s(<nil>)"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
\v 6 If your father misses me at all, then say, 'David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city; because it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the clan.'
ISSUE: Having a semicolon before "because" makes the phrase after the semicolon sound like an introductory phrase with nothing after it.
SUGGESTION: Delete the semicolon before the dependent phrase that starts with the word "because":
\v 6 If your father misses me at all, then say, 'David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city because it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the clan.'
I agree. I deleted the semicolon.
TN does not need any changes.
John, what do you think?
I agree the semicolon is not correct. Should there be a comma before "because"? NIV, ESV, NASB have a comma.
I'm not sure.
Style.mla indicates that it would have a comma if "it is the yearly sacrifice" is not essential to the meaning of the sentenece

Grammarly says that commas are not normally used, but they are sometimes needed after a negative clause.

I guess it depends on whether or not "because it is the yearly sacrifice there for all the clan" is essential for the meaning of the sentence. If the main point is that David had asked for leave (or that Jonathan had given David leave), then the part about the yearly sacrifice is not essential for the main point, and there would be a comma before "because". But, I wonder if the main point of the sentence is that David had to go to a sacrifice and if the comma would not be use in that situation.
Since most versions have it, I guess it would be fine to add it. I just added it.
