# understand ## Related Ideas: argument, craftiness, insight, intelligent, realize, unintentionally, without understanding ## Definition: The term "understand" means to hear or receive information and know what it means. * The term "understanding" can refer to "knowledge" or "wisdom" or realizing how to do something. * To understand someone can also mean to know how that person is feeling. * A person who is "without understanding" does not understand. * While walking on the road to Emmaus, Jesus caused the disciples to understand the meaning of the scriptures about the Messiah. * Depending on the context, the term "understand" could be translated by "know" or "believe" or "comprehend" or "know what (something) means." * Often the term "understanding" can be translated by "knowledge" or "wisdom" or "insight." * "Arguments" are statements that one person makes to share his understanding with another person and to convince that other person to understand something the same way. * "Craftiness" is understanding used for evil. * An "intelligent" person thinks clearly and learns quickly. * To do something "unintentionally" is to do it without knowing or by accident or without intending to do it.
