It covered an area that is now part of Syria and the Golan Heights. * An Old Testament city of refuge called "Golan" was located in the region of Bashan. * Bashan was a very fertile region known for its oak trees and pasturing animals. * Genesis 14 records that Bashan was the site of a war between several kings and their nations. * During Israel's wanderings in the desert after their escape from Egypt, they took possession of part of the region of Bashan. * Years later, King Solomon obtained supplies from that region.
