# Barnabas # ## Facts: ## Barnabas was one of the early Christians who lived during the time of the apostles. * Barnabas was from the Israelite tribe of Levi and was from the island of Cyprus. * When Saul (Paul) became a Christian, Barnabas urged the other believers to accept him as a fellow believer. * Barnabas and Paul traveled together to preach the good news about Jesus in different cities. * His name was Joseph, but he was called "Barnabas," which means "son of encouragement."
