MaryEllen noticed that the entry for qualify has only one reference listed under Bible References. This makes it look like it occurs once in the Bible, which leads to the question of whether the entry is even needed.
The sequence "qualif" occurs in the ULB only twice:
Dan 1:4 (qualify)
1Co 9:27 (disqualify)
Related Ideas listed in TW entry: disqualify, fail the test.
Strong's: H3581, G96
Daniel 1:4 young men without blemish, attractive in appearance, having insight in all wisdom, filled with knowledge and understanding, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the literature and language of the Chaldeans.
H3581 occurs many times in the OT - often translated as power, strength, ability.
Other versions translate it in Dan 1:4 as qualified, suited, competent, capable, had ability

The only OT verse linked to this TW - Daniel 1:4
1Co 9:27 But I subdue my body and make it a slave, so that after I have preached to others, I myself may not be disqualified.
G96 occurs 7 other times in the NT and is translated in ULB as
Rom 1:28 a corrupted mind
2Co 13:5 you have failed the test
2Co 13:6 we have not failed the test
2Co 13:7 may seem to have failed the test
2Tim 3:8 they are rejected
Tit 1:16 worthless for any good work
Heb 6:8 worthless

NT ULB verses with link to this TW.
1Co 9:27
2Co 13:5, 6, 7
2Ti 3:8
Because we already have verses that link to this entry, I think it owuld be good to keep it, but perhaps it could be changed to fit what it is being used for.
Add a bullet or section about the opposite of qualify being "disqualify" or "fail the test"?
Delete 3rd definition bullet?
The believer cannot earn the right to be part of God’s kingdom. He is only qualified because God has redeemed him with the blood of Christ.
Delete 2nd translation suggestion?
To “qualify” someone could be translated as to “equip” or to “enable” or to “empower.”
Add Bible References for?
1Co 9:27
2Co 13:5
I also found that "qualif" is only found in the 2 verses you listed above. I agree with your suggestions. It will look something like this:
qualify
Related Ideas:
disqualify, fail the test
Definition:
The term “qualify” means to earn the right to receive certain benefits or to be recognized as having certain skills.
Translation Suggestions
(See also: test)
Bible References:
Daniel 01:3-5
1Co 9:27
2Co 13:5
Word Date:
Strong’s: H3581, G96
Forms Found in the English ULB:
disqualified, failed the test, qualified
I'm not so sure about my defintion of disqualified. It does not necessarily mean to "lose the right." The person may not have had the right to begin with. He just no longer is eligible to gain the right. Maybe this option:
To “be disqualified” means to fail a test and no longer be eligible to earn the right to receive certain benefits or to be recognized as having certain skills.
I was also thinking of adding a translation suggestion for "disqualified" but there is already a note on 1 Cor 9.27. That should be enough.
Verses with links to this page
Daniel,1,4,"qualified",other,qualify H3581 'ability'
1 Corinthians,9,27,"disqualified",other,qualify G96
2 Corinthians,13,5,"failed the test",other,qualify G96
2 Corinthians,13,6,"failed the test",other,qualify G96
2 Corinthians,13,7,"failed the test",other,qualify G96
2 Timothy,3,8,"disqualified",other,qualify G96
This verse now uses "rejected"
2 Tim 3:8 Should I add "rejected" to this page and fix it in tWs_for_NT_PDF.txt,
or should I remove 2 Tim 3:8 from tWs_for_NT_PDF.txt?
Dan 1:4 ... and qualified to serve in the king's palace....
Hebrew: "had ability"
Would it be good to just delete this TW and the links to it in tWs_for_OT_PDF.txt and tWs_for_NT_PDF.txt?
If we keep this page, and if we keep H3581, would we want to add H2427 'qualify/enable'for Col 1:12 and 2Co 3:6? See Issue 68.
We have a page for "reject," I think we can remove the verse from here and maybe link 2 Tim 3:8 to that page, if it needs to be linked anywhere at all.
https://content.bibletranslationtools.org/WycliffeAssociates/en_tw/src/branch/master/bible/other/reject.md
As for Col 1:12 and 2Co 3:6, I see the Strong's definition of G2427 uses "qualify," but in my mind, the meaning of "to enable" doesn't really overlaps with the meaning of "to qualify." I'm ok with keeping the page, but I don't think we need to add G2427.
