In the book of Daniel, Hananiah was a wise Hebrew youth who was taken into Babylon during the captivity period. He is better known by the name Shadrach.

|

* The Babylonians gave Hananiah a position as a royal servant due to his excellent character and God-given abilities.
|
||
|
* Hananiah was renamed Shadrach by the Babylonian King.
|
||
|
* Along with his Jewish companions, Shadrach was thrown into a fire inside a furnace because they refused to worship the king. God showed his power by protecting them from being harmed.

* There are other lesser known men named Hananiah in various Old Testament passages.
