I updated the snippet and note, but I would like one or two of you to look at the note to see if I'm on track.

we are not overextending ourselves
"for we are not doing more than we should." Possible meanings are 1) "we are not bragging about you more than we should" or 2) "we are not claiming to have more authority than we do."

Looking at the context, it seems if this is about "boasting" it is about Paul boasting about himself or his ministry rather than boasting about the community.

\v 13 We, however, will not boast beyond limits. Instead, we will do so only within the limits of what God has assigned to us, limits that reach even as far as you.
\v 14 For we are not overextending ourselves as though we did not reach you. We were the first to reach as far as you with the gospel of Christ.

If this "overextending ourselves" refers to boasting, it seems like the boasting is about his work among the Corinthians.
I see the idea of "overextending ourselves" possibly meaning "claiming to have more authority than we do" in the following versions:

  • NLT: We are not reaching beyond these boundaries when we claim authority over you, as if we had never visited you. ...
  • NKJV: For we are not overextending ourselves (as though our authority did not extend to you), for it was to you that we came with the gospel of Christ;
  • Weymouth: For there is no undue stretch of authority on our part, as though it did not extend to you.

How would this be?
