What information is included in the form of a personal pronoun?

  • Case- Case is the form of a word that helps someone to know the function of the word in a sentence. Case helps the reader to know what the word is doing in a sentence.
  • Number- Number is the form of a word that helps someone to know whether there is one or more than one person or thing. With a pronoun, it must be the same as the noun it replaces.
  • Gender- The gender of a word helps the reader to know how that word is connected to each person or thing referred to in the sentence. With a pronoun, it must be the same as the noun it replaces.
  • Person- Person is the form of a word that helps the reader to know who is being written about or spoken about.

This has a normal definition for "person" when talking about morphology. However the OGNT morphology tags uses the word 'person' to mean that a word is the name of a person. People will see the OGNT definition any time they click on a name and then click on the word "Person" at the end of that entry.

  • For example, the entry for Jesus in Mat 1:21 has links to these:
  • Noun | Accusative | Singular | Masculine | Person

Also the definitions above for case, gender, and person would be hard for someone to understand if they don't already know what those concepts are. They would need examples. But these definitions they aren't really needed.

People will be given links to the specific case, number, and gender when they look at the entry for a particular pronoun.

  • For example, the entry for "he" in Mat 1:19 has links to these:
  • Personal pronoun | Nominative | Singular | Masculine

I would suggest deleting this section on all the the pronoun files since.
