# Inner Person
The words “inner person” are used to talk about the part of a person that cannot be seen. It is a way of talking about how a person thinks and why they do the things they do (see: Romans 7:22; Ephesians 3:16; 1 Peter 3:4). Other words used to talk about something similar to the “inner person” are “thoughts,” “conscience,” “spirit,” and “soul” (see: Matthew 11:29; 26:41; Luke 1:51; Romans 9:1) Sometimes the metaphor “heart” is used to talk about the inner person (see: Matthew 22:37).
