Pharaoh's heart is often described as hard in this chapter. This means that his heart was not open or willing to understand Yahweh's instructions. When his heart was hardened, it became less and less receptive to Yahweh.
اِس باب میں اکثر فِرعون کا دِل سخت بیان کیا گیا ہے۔ اِس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ اس کا دِل کھلا یا خُداوند کی ہدایات کو سمجھنے کے لئے تیار نہیں تھا۔ جب اُس کا دِل سخت ہو گیا تھا تو وہ یہوواہ کو کم سے کم قبول کرنے والا تھا۔

In the previous chapters, Moses does not ask Pharaoh for permission to "let go" of the Hebrew people. Instead, he demanded that Pharaoh free the Hebrew people. In this chapter, the same wording is used to refer to Pharaoh "allowing" the Hebrew people to leave Egypt.
پچھلے باب میں مُوسیٰ فِرعون سے اِسکی اجازت نہیں مانگتا کہ عِبرانیوں کو "جانے دے"۔ اِس کے برعکس وہ فِرعون سے یہ مُطالبہ کررہا ہے کہ عِبرانی لوگوں کو آزاد کر دے۔ اِس باب میں وہی الفاظ اِس کا حوالہ دینے کی لیے اِستعمال کیے گئے کہ فِرعون عِبرانیوں کو مِصر چھوڑنے کی " اجازت" دے رہا ہے۔
