# False Prophet
A false prophet is a person who wrongly claims that his message comes from God. False prophets teach things that God does not want them to teach. They do not teach the same things that the Bible teaches. The prophecies of false prophets are not usually fulfilled. That is, they do not come true. People should not obey false prophets (see: Deuteronomy 13:1-5; 18:20-22; Jeremiah 23:16; Matthew 7:15; 1 John 4:1).

#### More Information About This Topic

Jesus taught that in the last days there will be many false prophets who will try to deceive people into thinking that they come from God (see: Matthew 24:11, 24). The book of Revelation also talks about a false prophet who will perform signs and miracles so that people will worship the antichrist (see: Revelation 13:11-17; 16:13; 19:20).
