# Genesis 23 General Notes

### Special concepts in this chapter

#### Abraham's character
Abraham's interaction with the people show that he was greatly respected. This would have been unusual for a foreigner and indicates that Abraham was a man of great character. (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/jit/figs-explicit]])

#### Burial
Burial was a common practice when Abraham lived, but only the wealthy were able to bury their dead relatives in this way.
