\v 25 የዮሐንስ ጥምቀት ከየት መጣ ከሰማይ ነውን ወይስ ከሰዎች?” እርስ በርሳቸው እንዲህ በማለት ተነጋገሩ፤ “ከሰማይ ነው ብንለው፣ ‘ለምን አታምኑትም?’ ይለናል። \v 26 ነገር ግን ‘ከሰው ነው ብንል፣ ዮሐንስን እንደ ነቢይ ስለሚያዩት ሕዝቡን እንፈራለን።” \v 27 ከዚያም መልሰው ኢየሱስን፣ “አናውቅም” አሉት። እርሱ ደግሞ፣ “እኔም በምን ሥልጣን እነዚህን ነገሮች እንደማደርግ አልነግራችሁም” አላቸው።
