# Confess (Confession)
The word “confess” is used to talk about a person saying that something is true. A "confession" is an admission or statement that something is true.
The word "confess" can be used to talk about a person boldly saying the truth about God. It also can be used to talk about someone saying that Jesus is the messiah and savior (see: Matthew 10:32; Matthew 16:16; 2 Corinthians 9:13; 2 Timothy 2:19).
The word “confess” can also be used to talk about a person saying that he has sinned (see: Leviticus 5:5; Ezra 10:1-2; Psalm 32:5; Daniel 9:4; Matthew 3:6). The apostle John wrote that if people confess their sins to God, God will forgive them (see: 1 John 1:9). When Christians confess their sins to each other, this causes people to be healed in their spirit (see: James 5:16).
Someday everyone will confess or declare that Jesus is Lord (see: Philippians 2:10-11). If people confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from the dead, they will be saved (see: Romans 10:9-10).
